Selecting your Co-Hop buddy

While Connect cannot provide guidance on who would be a suitable Co-Hop buddy, we do encourage you to make your own judgements carefully and not participate in any scenario that makes you uncomfortable.

Some safety measures:

  • Have your first meeting at work in an area where you are safe and comfortable and get to know each other
  • Don’t give out your home address unless you are completely comfortable doing so. You can arrange to be picked up and dropped off from a point near your house (e.g. a corner, shopping centre car park, bus stop, etc.)
  • Ensure your arrangement is known to others. You can share your plan with the workplace coordinator, your partner or another person you trust.

It’s okay to say ‘no’

Our advice is that you don’t car pool with someone unless you are completely comfortable doing so. You are not obligated and a simple email to cancel the arrangement will suffice if it doesn’t look like it will work out. Please be polite and get in contact with the workplace coordinator for any assistance.

Personal information

The personal information you provide for the register will be kept private. Your basic details (name, suburb and contact) will be shared ONLY with a potential Co-Hop buddy and it will be up to you to provide any other information in personal correspondence.

Insurance

It is the understanding of Connect that your car insurance policy should not be affected by car pooling provided that the arrangement does not produce a profit for the vehicle owner or driver. If you are in any doubt as to whether a car pool arrangement contravenes any clauses in your insurance policy, our advice is that your contact your insurance provider directly before commencing.
