Ever wondered what it feels like to find a rideshare buddy that suits you to a T? Well, wonder no more… we have a few inspiring stories to share!

We connected with three happy travel buddies willing to share their experiences to give us a glimpse on the do’s and don’ts of ridesharing.

Meet Ana from the Northern Beaches

Ana works part-time at Novartis, rideshares part-time, has children in childcare and makes it all work together seamlessly. How amazing is that?!?

She explains, “I currently car pool on alternate days with someone who is in a similar situation as myself, with alternate working from home days, has small children drop off/pick up responsibilities and is a 1-hour commute from work. It is very hard for us not to drive into work due to the commute time and childcare opening hours. Our current arrangement works well for us”.

Ana’s story checks all the boxes and shows that anything is possible if you’re willing to give it a go.

Meet Alexander from Putney

Next up on our list of happy travellers is Alexander from Optus who has been ridesharing for over a year. It appears to be a rideshare match made in heaven! Here is what Alexander had to say about his personal rideshare experience:

“I car pool every day for work, Monday to Friday and have done so for a year. I live approximately 20 minutes away from work and my rideshare buddy lives 30 minutes away in the same direction. We have gone from team members to become very good friends, sharing highlights of our weekends, what we are working on and our experiences at work.”

We asked Alexander to share with us the benefits of ridesharing, here is what he had to say:

“The initial benefit of carpooling was primarily cost saving, it is at least 75% cheaper than driving to work on my own. Unanticipated benefits also include becoming very good friends, getting to know each other on a personal level which is not just work related. Additionally, we are always guaranteed a car spot no matter what time we arrive so it makes it a lot more convenient.”

Meet Erika from Crows Nest

One last story to share. Introducing Erika from Optus who has been ridesharing for the last three years. Here is what Erika had to say about her experience:

“I carpool daily as part of the Optus rideshare scheme and have been doing so for the last 3 years. I was lucky enough to have someone in my team who lived nearby. She shares my skill at being prompt, so while I haven’t made a new friend, it’s great to be able to travel to work with an old friend and l reap the cost saving benefits of ridesharing!”

When asked about any tips and pointers she can give to individuals considering rideshare options, Erika said, “The best tip I can give is to make sure you rideshare with like-minded people who are willing to be flexible and communicate their needs. It is definitely worthwhile doing!”
