Macquarie Park to say goodbye to innovation district manager

Connect Macquarie Park Innovation District will bid farewell to its long-serving General Manager, Mark Ames, in March.

The news was confirmed to Connect MPID members yesterday as the search for a new GM gets underway.

The Board of Directors, who govern Connect MPID's strategy and impact, wrote:

"Mark's leadership over the past 5 years has been impactful and highly valued, including supporting our members through the closure of Macquarie Park's train line, through the COVID-19 pandemic and return to work, and through the successful amalgamation of 'Connect' and 'MPID'. Mark has grown both Connect MPID's team and its family of business members and Government partners - and built many connections across our community."

"Please be assured that Connect MPID continues to be well-placed to act as a stable, unifying and independent voice representing our members and the wider needs of the Park"

2024 will be a busy year for Macquarie Park, with the forthcoming opening of Sydney Metro services direct to the city, the NSW Government's planned re-zoning of the district, and the ongoing settlement of the post-pandemic 'return to work' landscape.

Mark will depart the role in mid-March, ahead of an extended family break in his native UK. Reflecting on his time in the position, Mark said:

"Macquarie Park is an exceptional innovation district, and Australia's most advanced example of a planned innovation geography."

"The more time I've spent in the area, the more I've learned about the exceptional work going on behind the doors of our district everyday."

"It has been my pleasure to lead Connect MPID's impactful team, to help bring our community together, and to work closely with our members to represent their needs."

The search for a talented leader to fill this exciting role is led by Ben Wood, from Calibre Research Group:
