New chest pain clinic in Macquarie Park

A transformative partnership between WiSE Specialist Emergency Clinic and Macquarie University Hospital has led to the creation of an innovative new chest pain clinic here in Macquarie Park.

Equipped with specialist machinery for stress testing, CT Cardiac angiography, echo-cardiograms and specialised ultrasound machines – and with access to specialist physicians - the clinic is designed to rapidly investigate all types of atypical chest pain.

Specialist Emergency Physician and Medical Director of WiSE, Dr Tom Wallis said:

“Often patients are waiting weeks to get this kind of review and I am now really pleased that we can ensure all our patients receive comprehensive follow up care.”

“Our friends at MQ Health have been huge supporters of WiSE since day one and we are thankful for them to be providing excellent cardiologist to take over care after the initial ED care.”

The opening of the new clinic underscores the commitment both providers have to ensuring access to convenient specialist care while bypassing conventional hospital wait times.

With Macquarie University providing the new clinic two consultant cardiologists twice a week, the initiative guarantees patients receive crucial medical evaluations within three days, instead of a typical diagnosis time of weeks.

In the event of urgent cardiac events, WISE Specialist Emergency clinic also has rapid access admissions to the Macquarie University Hospital.

Connect MPID members WiSE are a Macquarie Park success story, first testing their innovative “walk in” health care model in our district before scaling and moving to state of the art new premises last year.

Macquarie University Hospital is Australia’s first and only private not-for-profit teaching hospital on a university campus.
