New Macquarie Park clinic opens to optimise child therapy outcomes

MQ Health Kids provides specialised Paediatric Physiotherapy and Speech Pathology services in Macquarie Park.

This program combines leading allied health expertise with a child-centric methodology, prioritising the wellbeing of young patients and support for families.

From developmental to neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, MQ Health Kids offers comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and intervention. The clinic also offers a Speech Pathology service that addresses all-age concerns including those pertaining to language, literacy and stuttering.

The clinic was developed in response to an identified gap in the provision of multidisciplinary allied health support for children with needs in our local area. The public hospital system’s long waiting lists and record of delayed intervention also supported the proof of concept.

Lead clinician, Jan Hancock says that MQ Health Kids recognises the importance of personalisation to optimise the patient’s experience and therapy outcomes:

“MQ Health identified that we could deliver high quality clinical service that was underpinned by research and current evidence, but that could also be tailored to the child and family and delivered in a flexible way.

Families are integral to meeting the child’s therapy needs, so we work together to find the best solutions for everyone involved”

As an integrated clinic of Macquarie University’s Health Sciences Centre, MQ Health Kids also provides student education, equipping the next generation of therapists to provide ongoing high-quality care.

MQ Health Kids exemplifies Macquarie Park’s budding culture of innovation and collaboration. It also benefits from the proximity of renowned health and pharmaceutical leaders including Abbott, Sanofi, Novartis and Johnson & Johnson.

As Macquarie Park’s residential population continues to grow - now accommodating over 11,071 people - the needs of our area continue to expand, as do the service offerings, and MQ Health Kids is a recognition of this.
